Female Victims

How do perpetrators sextort women? 1

Unlike male victims, women are  targeted by perpetrators who engage in a grooming process strategy.  This usually starts with a catfish scheme where the perpetrator uses a false persona, either created or stolen, and works to establish a relationship with the targeted female. This grooming period can last anywhere from a week to several months. During this grooming phase, the perpetrator collects a host of personal information allowing them to zero in on vulnerabilities.
Once the perpetrator is satisfied that an emotional bond has been established with the victim, picture exchanges followed by money  requests are made.  Should the women refuse money requests, the perpetrator becomes agressive and threatens the victim with exposure unless money demands are met. In some cases, when the victim is unable to pay, the perpetrator will demand additional pictures and video performances which are then sold online.
